2 First Time Setup
From unboxing to first shot in under five minutes.
Fit your iPhone into the SANDMARC case (sold separately). Press firmly at each corner until it seats fully. The case features a precision-threaded mount aligned directly over the wide-angle camera. If you prefer no case, use the included clip mount — it works on both the rear and front cameras without any case required.
Remove the front and rear protective caps before mounting. Store them in the included lens pouch when not in use — it also doubles as a microfiber cleaning cloth.
The Fisheye Lens mounts over the main wide-angle (1×) rear camera. Its exact position varies by iPhone model — see the Camera Location Guide (Section 3) to find yours.
Hold the Fisheye Lens over the case mount opening, align the threading, then twist clockwise with smooth, even pressure — about two full turns. Do not overtighten.
Open the Camera app, set zoom to 1×, and frame your shot. The Fisheye Lens immediately expands your field of view to 210° with its signature hemispherical distortion. Do not zoom in — stay at 1× for the full optical effect. Tap to focus, then shoot.

4 Mounting Options
Two mounting options are available. Use whichever fits your workflow best — or switch between them depending on whether you're shooting front or rear.
The SANDMARC case features precision-threaded aluminum aligned over the wide-angle camera. Provides the most secure, stable connection — ideal for action shots and video. The case is sold separately.
Clips directly over any rear or front camera with no case required. Quick to attach and remove — great for switching between rear and front mid-shoot, or for use on Android devices.
5 Shooting Tips
The Fisheye Lens has a distinctive look that rewards intentional composition. These tips will help you make the most of it from day one.
Always keep zoom at 1× when the Fisheye Lens is attached. Any digital zoom will crop the image and reduce the dramatic 210° field of view that makes the fisheye effect so impactful.
The fisheye effect is most dramatic at close range. Move in close to skaters, musicians, athletes, or objects — the proximity combined with the curved distortion is what makes fisheye shots so visually striking.
Unlike a wide lens, the curved distortion at the frame edges is the point. Use strong horizontal or vertical lines in the background — like rails, ramps, walls, or horizons — to make the curvature pop.
Low-angle fisheye shots — looking up at a skater mid-trick, up at a performer on stage, or along the ground at a subject — amplify the hemispherical effect and make subjects appear larger than life.
Mount the Fisheye via the clip over the front camera for ultra-wide selfies and vlogging. The 210° view captures far more of your environment than any other front-camera setup — great for concerts, travel, and group content.
The curved front element picks up fingerprints and dust easily. Wipe it with the included lens pouch before every shoot — smudges will show up as haze in the curved areas of the image.
6 Fisheye vs Wide vs Ultrawide
Three lenses, three very different results. Here's how the Fisheye compares to the SANDMARC Wide Lens and the iPhone's built-in ultrawide camera — and when to choose each one.
The Fisheye Lens is fundamentally different from every other lens in the SANDMARC lineup. Where the Wide Lens (16mm) and the iPhone's built-in ultrawide (13mm) aim to capture a wider frame while keeping the image looking natural, the Fisheye Lens is designed to distort. That distortion is the feature — not a flaw.
At 10mm with a 210° field of view, the Fisheye captures far more than the human eye can see in one glance. The curved, hemispherical rendering creates a sense of depth and drama that no other lens can replicate. The focal point stays sharp at the centre, while the edges bow outward in a characteristic curve. This is the look you see in skate videos, concert films, music photography, and action sports content — a look with real cultural history dating back to rock photography of the 1960s.
The Wide Lens, by contrast, captures a wider-than-normal view while keeping lines straight and the image looking like a scene from a cinematic film. Choose the Fisheye when the distortion is the style. Choose the Wide Lens when you want the frame wider but the image to look natural.
