 1 Compatibility

The 48mm is designed to work with Apple's Tetraprism telephoto camera, found on Pro and Pro Max models only. Standard iPhone models do not include a dedicated telephoto lens.

 3 First Time Setup

From unboxing to first shot in under five minutes.

1
Install the SANDMARC Case

Slide your iPhone into the included SANDMARC case — sleek, matte black, and ultra-slim with a soft rubberized texture for grip. Press firmly at each corner until it clicks into place. Make sure your case matches your exact iPhone model, as each one is precision-cut to fit.

2
Remove Both Lens Caps

Take off the front and rear protective caps before mounting. Store them in the included lens pouch when not in use — and if you ever forget your cleaning cloth, that pouch doubles as a great lens wipe.

3
Download SANDMARC Camera App

Pair the 48mm with the free SANDMARC app, designed specifically for our lens ecosystem. Full manual control over focus, exposure, and shutter speed. Select your lens directly in the app and start shooting.

4
Align and Attach

Locate the telephoto camera — the center lens in your iPhone's rear cluster. Hold the 48mm over the telephoto opening on the case, carefully align the threading, then twist clockwise with a couple of smooth turns. The aluminum threading is built for repeated use, so you can attach and remove it often without wear.

⚠️ Always align before twisting. The 48mm mounts to the center telephoto lens only — it is not compatible with the main wide-angle lens. If it resists, back off and realign to avoid cross-threading.
5
Open the App and Select Your Lens

Open the SANDMARC Camera app, select the 48mm from the lens menu, and set zoom to (or on iPhone 16 Pro / 15 Pro Max models) to activate the telephoto sensor. From there, use the app's manual controls to dial in your focus, exposure, and shutter speed.

💡 Avoid zooming beyond the native telephoto level while the lens is attached — the 48mm handles the additional optical reach.
 4 Mounting Options

Three mounting options give you flexibility for any shooting style.

 5 Shooting Tips

Practical tips for sharp, professional results from your first shoot.

Start at the native zoom

Set zoom to 5× (or 4× on iPhone 17 Pro) before composing. This locks you onto the telephoto sensor the 48mm is built for.

True optics, not digital zoom

The 48mm adds genuine optical reach — no pixelation, no distortion. Your images stay crisp at full zoom, unlike cropping in post or using digital zoom.

Let telephoto compression work

The 48mm produces natural background blur through optical compression. No Portrait Mode needed — subject separation happens organically at this focal length.

Stabilise for reach

Even at 2× added magnification, minor movement gets amplified. Use both hands, brace your elbows, or mount to a tripod for the sharpest results.

Tap to focus

Autofocus can drift at telephoto distances. Tap your subject on screen to lock focus and exposure before you shoot.

Keep the glass clean

Wipe the front element with the included lens pouch before shooting. The multi-coating reduces flare, but a clean surface ensures maximum contrast and sharpness.

 6 48mm vs 72mm vs 96mm

All three lenses share the same Tetraprism optical design. Here's how to choose.
